Princeton - Philadelphia
As mentioned in our last post, we had great hosts in Princeton. That´s why we stayed a little longer had a nice and interesting chat with Omar - a Princeton professor and then headed out to Philadelphia around noon.
It´s only 70km they said. It will be fun they said. Well, we didn´t doubt that and took another extrahour to check out Princeton´s famous Unicampus by bike. Find some nice shots attached. Having finished our academic roundtrip, we decided to grant our brains a little timeout: Brains off, Garmin on, GO! After a hour of riding, we looked at each other, saying: "Wait a minute, shouldn´t we go westwards?" True story. Yet the road we´ve been cycling the last hour was leading up north. Fail. Checking the map again it turned out that we were indeed going to Philadelphia. Yet not the one in Pennsylvania. Doublefail.
Being on track again we were surprised that almost all the beautiful state roads had disappeared. It was the first time we pervailingly had to use highways in stead. Berni was pretty much fine with that (because the dust makes him look very tanned, however it is very dissapointing when he showers, seens he sees everything going down the drain). I admitedly don´t like them. Loud, dirty, dusty. At least you can use the service lane most of the time which makes the ride quite safe.
It was 0830pm and almost dark when we reached Philly downtown. Again we found a nice spot via AirBnB, had a Philly styled hoaggie for dinner and prepared next days daytrip to Harve de Grace, Maryland.
I liked this place.
