Cadillac Ranch

Amarillo - Vega

The night before this trip we considered to do another double-leg, yet after a quick stop at Amarillo´s famous Big Texan Steak House we skiped that idea anyway.. Fried food madness. So we thought today will be an easy as pie riding day, as it will only last for 60km. Well, no. Say hello to Mr. Headwind again. A grumpy Mr. Headwind. Not in the mood for jokes. It has never been so challenging. We cycled hard but crawled at an average speed of around 15 km/h. The wind raised quite some dust from the fields which made it more and more tricky to breath and visibility got worse. Anyhow, it was kind of unpleasant but OK as it was only a 60km ride. Tomorrow we face 155km, leaving Texas, entering New Mexico, hoping for less wind.

However, there was one welcoming break during today´s ride: The Cadillac Ranch!

It´s an amazing Art project we think, totally worth the stop! There are 10 iconic Cadillacs half-burried on top in a row, sprayed by more or less talented people (like us). The whole project was/is financed by an eccentric millionaire. There we met 2 grafiti artists that just finished their artwork on one of the Cadis. Ceding us one of their spray cans they helped us advertize our blog a bit. We had a blast!
